ABOUT

Profile

I'm Geonwoo, a multidisciplinary designer based in London. Originally from South Korea, I've spent over a decade between the two cultures, which continues to inform how I think about communication and clarity in design.

I graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with a BA in Design, and my work spans product, graphic, and UI/UX design. I'm drawn to projects that require thinking across disciplines, from screen-based interfaces to physical products.

Currently open to freelance collaborations and full-time opportunities. Feel free to get in touch.

APPROACH

Five disciplines underlying every project.

DESIGN THINKING

A discipline of framing problems around the audience the work serves. Interviews, journey mapping, testing. Design decisions become meaningful only once the audience is understood.

PROBLEM SOLVING

The reduction of a complex brief to a single, clear question. Every subsequent decision is held against it. A brief that cannot be written in one sentence remains unresolved.

SYSTEMS THINKING

An approach that places structure before surface. Grids, proportions, ratios. The framework beneath a form determines the majority of its outcome.

DESIGN RESEARCH

The practice of reading, observing, and asking before making. Precedent, culture, material history, conversations. Research prevents work that repeats what has already been done better elsewhere.

VISUAL COMMUNICATION

The translation of intent into visible form. Typography, hierarchy, colour, composition. Typographic decisions carry more of the meaning than any other single element.
